Regional Education in Emergencies Advisor (PlayMatters)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Regional Education in Emergencies Advisor to lead the PlayMatters (PM) Crisis Modifier and Education in Emergencies (EiE) strategy across Uganda. Reporting to the Deputy Project Director – Technical, you will work closely with the IRC Global Practice Lead for Foundational Learning and the Senior Technical Advisor for Education in Emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation of the PM Crisis Modifier and EiE strategy in collaboration with Country Project Management Committees.
• Coordinate with sub‑regional teams and refugee settlement partners to ensure alignment with PlayMatters outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance on Learning through Play (LtP) methodologies and monitor program quality.
• Support the development of resilient education systems that can deliver safe, high‑quality learning environments.
• Track and report on program indicators, ensuring data‑driven decision‑making.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in education programming within humanitarian or emergency contexts.
• Strong understanding of Learning through Play approaches and foundational learning.
• Proven ability to work with multi‑stakeholder teams, including government, NGOs, and community groups.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
