Regional Policy and Advocacy Advisor for PlayMatters

About the role

The Regional Policy and Advocacy Advisor will lead creative efforts to highlight the developmental needs of children aged 3‑12 in PlayMatters operating areas, raise the profile of IRC and its partners, and influence how education that integrates play is prioritized and funded across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement advocacy strategies that promote learning through play in education systems.
• Produce policy briefs, position papers, and communication materials to showcase the impact of PlayMatters.
• Engage with government officials, NGOs, civil‑society groups, and private‑sector partners to build support for play‑based learning.
• Monitor policy developments and funding trends related to education in crisis‑affected contexts.
• Represent IRC at regional forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
• Collaborate with the PlayMatters regional support team and the Deputy Project Director to align advocacy activities with project objectives.

Required profile

• Solutions‑driven, passionate change‑maker with experience in policy and advocacy.
• Familiarity with education systems, especially in humanitarian or post‑conflict settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple countries and cultures.
