Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR)

About the role

The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative phases. Working closely with surgeons and the peri‑operative team, the RN ensures safe, efficient, and patient‑centered surgical experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care using the nursing process across all surgical phases.
• Assess physiological and psychosocial status, pain levels, and patient history.
• Develop, document, and adjust individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and families.
• Maintain accurate, legible patient records and communicate pertinent information to the care team.
• Perform pre‑operative verification, surgical site marking, case counting, and aseptic techniques.
• Assist the surgeon during procedures, manage blood product handling, and ensure proper patient identification.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and adhere to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing standards, JCAHO regulations, and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Strong assessment, documentation, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced surgical environment.
