Senior Quality Inspector

About the role

The Senior Quality Inspector at McDermott leads quality control activities, ensuring that products meet customer specifications and industry standards. This senior position provides guidance to less‑experienced colleagues and applies deep inspection knowledge to solve complex problems.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise quality control activities and conduct independent inspections and tests according to the Project Quality Plan.
• Identify non‑conformities, coordinate rectification, and verify final resolution.
• Direct, supervise and participate in inspection activities to guarantee product quality.
• Collaborate with the Project Quality Manager on prevention, appraisal resources, and the effectiveness of quality plans.
• Develop and evaluate Project Quality Plans, inspection and test plans.
• Liaise with QC, NDT, certification, welding engineering, and customers to resolve quality issues.
• Interpret applicable code specifications and document deviations, clarifications, and waivers.
• Coordinate with operations, certifying authorities, clients, and subcontractors to ensure conformity to project specifications.
• Conduct random audits of inspection reports to verify inspector effectiveness.
• Proactively prevent problems by interfacing with production, engineering, and management personnel.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in quality inspection and control within industrial or construction projects.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and improve inspection processes.
• Capability to act as a resource and mentor for junior team members.
• Strong understanding of project quality plans, inspection & test plans, and relevant code specifications.
