Service Engineer – Commercial Kitchen, Refrigeration & Electrical

About the role

We are looking for a Service Engineer to install, commission, maintain and repair commercial kitchen, refrigeration and electrical equipment for our hospitality clients in Uganda. The role involves direct interaction with customers, preparation of service contracts and technical reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and perform preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen, refrigeration and electrical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on single‑ and three‑phase systems, reading schematics and using test equipment.
• Service cold rooms, freezers, ice machines, blast chillers and other refrigeration units, including leak detection, evacuation and refrigerant charging.
• Maintain and troubleshoot commercial cooking equipment such as combi ovens, fryers, grills, ranges and dishwashers.
• Install, inspect and test LPG systems, regulators, solenoid valves, burners and safety devices.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, prepare detailed service reports and recommend parts and preventive actions.
• Support equipment demonstrations and customer training when required.

Required profile

• Hands‑on, technically confident and strong fault finder.
• Reliable, disciplined and customer‑focused.
• Able to work independently and document technical work accurately.
• Willing to learn new equipment and technologies and comfortable working under pressure.

Required skills

• Installation and commissioning of commercial kitchen equipment.
• Electrical diagnostics on single‑ and three‑phase systems.
• Reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Use of electrical test equipment.
• Refrigeration diagnostics (compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion systems).
• Leak detection, evacuation and refrigerant charging.
• Service of ice machines, blast chillers and refrigerated counters.
• Gas/LPG system installation, inspection and safety testing.
• Preparation of service reports and parts recommendations.
