Teacher of Drama – IB PYP (Primary Years Programme)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teacher of Drama to join the Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) at our international school in Kampala. The role involves delivering inquiry‑based drama lessons that inspire creativity, confidence and collaboration among young learners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging drama sessions aligned with the IB PYP framework.
• Integrate storytelling, movement and performance techniques into cross‑curricular projects.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers to develop interdisciplinary units.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment and uphold safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, US licence or equivalent).
• Degree in Drama, Performing Arts, Education or related field.
• Experience teaching drama in a primary or international school setting is desirable.
• Familiarity with the IB PYP framework is an advantage.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and student welfare.

Required skills

• Strong subject knowledge in drama and performing arts.
• Ability to design and deliver inquiry‑based lessons.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Confidence in using creativity, movement and storytelling as learning tools.
