About the role
The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a qualified Team Leader to oversee the Climate and Food Security component of its Food Systems and Economic Self‑Reliance project across six districts in Uganda. The role ensures technical quality, supports farmer trainings, and manages project staff while coordinating with local authorities and partners.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of climate‑smart and regenerative agriculture interventions, including block/cluster farming, soil and water conservation, and post‑harvest management.
- Lead nutrition‑sensitive activities such as kitchen gardening, diversified household food production, and nutrition education for refugee households.
- Oversee market systems work, including value‑chain development, aggregation, collective marketing, and linking farmer groups with off‑takers.
- Supervise technical and support staff, manage relationships with implementing partners, and ensure compliance with donor requirements and DRC policies.
- Support budgeting, financial management, and reporting processes, and represent the programme in coordination forums and donor meetings.
Required profile
- Relevant higher‑education qualification in agriculture, environmental science, development studies or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing climate‑smart agriculture or food security projects, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Strong understanding of nutrition‑sensitive approaches and market‑system interventions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government, refugee and host‑community structures, private‑sector actors and financial institutions.
Required skills
- Technical knowledge of climate‑smart and regenerative agriculture practices.
- Experience with nutrition‑sensitive programming and kitchen‑garden/permaculture techniques.
- Understanding of value‑chain development, market aggregation and collective marketing.
