About the role
The Department of Science, Technical & Vocational Education at Makerere University is seeking a dedicated Technician to support laboratory operations, practical teaching sessions, and resource management. This full‑time position plays a vital role in ensuring that students receive high‑quality, hands‑on learning experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Generate reports, inventories and orders for the unit.
- Prepare budgets and monitor the use of physical resources.
- Manage laboratory equipment, facilities and safety compliance.
- Requisition, maintain and account for financial and other resources.
- Prepare and supervise student practicals.
- Support academic staff in delivering practical sessions.
- Implement quality‑assurance guidelines and safety regulations.
- Induct and mentor junior staff on technical skills.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Science Technology (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) or a Diploma in the same fields.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong analytical ability and precise communication skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency in operating laboratory machines and computers.
