TVET Systems Specialist – East Africa

About the role

Vashi Impact Group is seeking a TVET Systems Specialist to support assignments across East Africa. The role focuses on strengthening technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems, influencing education policy, engaging employers, and ensuring refugee inclusion in livelihood programs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct TVET system assessments and support curriculum improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate policy reviews, institutional capacity building, and stakeholder consultations.
• Analyse labour market trends and develop employer partnership models, including apprenticeships and internships.
• Integrate protection, gender, disability, and conflict‑sensitivity considerations into TVET programming for refugees.
• Collaborate with governments, development partners, NGOs, UN agencies, and local communities throughout the region.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in TVET, Education, Skills Development, Labour Economics, Refugee Studies or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in TVET systems, policy & governance, labour market analysis, or refugee programming (4 years for refugee‑focused roles).
• Demonstrated experience working in East Africa and with a range of regional stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CBET, qualifications frameworks and quality assurance mechanisms.
• Experience with policy review, institutional assessment and stakeholder consultation processes.
• Labour market analysis and employer engagement expertise.
• Ability to integrate protection, gender, disability inclusion and safeguarding into program design.
