Lecturer in Microbiology (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University seeks a qualified Lecturer in Microbiology to join its Medical School faculty on a full‑time basis. The role involves teaching, curriculum development, student assessment, and active research participation.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in course administration and instruction for the Medical school curriculum.
• Develop and deliver an integrated curriculum blending science and clinical concepts.
• Employ diverse teaching methods such as case‑based instruction, lectures, simulations, and distance education.
• Assess undergraduate and postgraduate medical student performance through formative and summative evaluations.
• Provide individual support, feedback, and academic advising to students.
• Collaborate with curriculum committees, faculty, and administrators to achieve curriculum goals.
• Engage in scholarship, research, and publication in microbiology or related fields.
• Supervise student microbiology sessions and act as a clinical academic advisor as needed.

Required profile

• Master of Medicine in Microbiology from a recognized institution.
• Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery or Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
• At least two years teaching experience at Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer level or three years as Tutorial Assistant.
• Minimum one scholarly publication or research project.
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners' Council.
• Commitment to medical research and high personal integrity.
• Practicing Christian.
