Universal Banker (Maker & Checker) – 4 Vacancies

About the role

Standard Chartered is building a talent pipeline for Universal Banker positions in Uganda. The role supports branch operations by delivering efficient customer service, processing and checking transactions, managing cash, and ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Process, review and approve customer transactions such as cash and cheque deposits, withdrawals, inter‑account transfers, currency exchange and other branch banking activities.
• Handle Telegraphic Transfer, Electronic Funds Transfer, Real Time Gross Settlement, customer drafts, cheque books, card services, stop payments and static data instructions accurately and within required timelines.
• Manage cash within approved limits, balance cash against daily journals, support reconciliation of cash and general ledger accounts, and perform vault or float custodian duties where nominated.
• Provide professional, customer‑focused service, handling queries and complaints within agreed turnaround times.
• Support digital migration by encouraging use of online platforms and resolving related service issues.
• Identify opportunities to refer customers to relevant bank products and services, including deposits and unsecured lending.
• Ensure compliance with AML, CDD, KYC, data protection, audit and conduct requirements, and appropriately escalate operational, risk or compliance matters.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant banking, branch operations or customer service experience.
• Good understanding of transaction process flows and banking products.
