Accountant – Visa Application Centre (Kampala)

About the role

VAS Global Services is seeking an experienced Accountant to oversee the financial operations of its Visa Application Centre in Kampala, Uganda. The role involves managing branch accounting, cash and revenue reconciliation, reporting, payroll support and audit preparation while ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Monitor and reconcile cash collections, visa fees, VAS revenue, POS settlements and bank deposits.
• Ensure accurate billing, fee collection, service charges and revenue postings.
• Process refunds, waivers and revenue adjustments according to approval procedures.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial and revenue reports.
• Support payroll processing including attendance, overtime, allowances, deductions and incentives.
• Track revenue, transaction volumes, payroll costs and operational expenses.
• Assist budgeting, cost control, vendor payments and expense monitoring.
• Identify discrepancies, perform timely reconciliations and corrective actions.
• Maintain audit‑ready records and support internal, statutory and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, statutory requirements, accounting standards and financial controls.
• Collaborate with the centralized Finance team and other departments to improve processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 4–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, audit or a similar role.
• Strong experience in cash and revenue reconciliation and financial reporting.
• Experience with payroll processing and incentive calculations.
• Knowledge of VAT and statutory compliance.
• Experience supporting audits and maintaining financial controls.
• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
• Fluency in English and ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
