Assistant Accountant

About the role

UltraPack Industries Uganda Limited, a manufacturer of aluminum packaging solutions, is hiring a full-time, on-site Assistant Accountant in Bweyogerere, Kampala. The post supports the finance team in day-to-day accounting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Record financial transactions and maintain accurate ledgers
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable and reconcile bank and supplier statements
• Prepare basic financial reports and support month-end closing
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records
• Assist with invoicing, expense tracking, stock and cost records
• Help ensure compliance with internal controls and relevant financial regulations
• Collaborate with other departments, vendors and management

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; a professional certification such as CPA or ACCA in progress or completed is an added advantage
• Prior experience in an accounting or finance support role, preferably in manufacturing or industry, is beneficial
• Attention to detail, accuracy in numerical work and strong organisational skills
• Effective written and verbal communication and integrity in financial matters

Required skills

• Bookkeeping and general accounting, including ledger maintenance, journal entries and account reconciliations
• Tally ERP and MS Office, especially Excel for data entry, spreadsheets and basic analysis
• Ability to prepare and review invoices, manage accounts payable and receivable and support cash flow monitoring
• Knowledge of basic financial reporting, documentation standards and local accounting and tax regulations
