Finance Manager

About the role

Liquid Intelligent Technologies Uganda, a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies, is looking for a Finance Manager. The role develops and maintains financial strategy, sourcing strategy, policies and procedures and internal controls, evaluates and manages financial performance and risk, and provides financial decision support and advice to the CEO Uganda and other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate financial strategic action plans, performance standards and the supply chain strategy, and ensure compliance with financial policies and controls
• Analyse monthly financial performance, prepare feasibility and profitability studies, and approve financial dimensions of new projects and products
• Administer quarterly performance appraisals, manage capital expenditure and asset depreciation, and oversee disposal of property, plant and equipment
• Monitor profitability, manage cash flow, negotiate financing facilities, and review airtime distributor credit limits
• Ensure compliance with the Uganda Communications Commission license fees, customs and import duties, income and corporate taxes, and corporate returns
• Negotiate supplier prices and terms, monitor supplier performance, develop supplier selection procedures and long-term supply agreements, and improve supply chain planning
• Prepare budgets, management reports, half-year and annual results, and financial statements with external auditors; present results to the CEO and board
• Contribute to strategic mapping as a member of the Executive team and recommend finance department training needs

Required profile

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science or a related discipline
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA or ACCA (essential)
• At least 8 years in finance or corporate finance, with 4 years in a senior management position
• MBA or MBL is an added advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS and IAS
• Spreadsheet and financial modelling skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and business modelling tools
• Good analytical, conceptual and diagnostic skills, and professional judgment
