Assistant Manager – Plant & Mechanical Maintenance

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Plant & Mechanical Maintenance will oversee the upkeep of mechanical and electrical equipment across processing plants and cold‑chain operations. You will lead preventive maintenance planning, support equipment installation, and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage routine maintenance of mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
• Maintain blast freezers, industrial refrigeration units, cold rooms, conveyors, dryers and ventilation systems.
• Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate technicians and external contractors.
• Support equipment installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Monitor spare‑parts inventory, tools and maintenance requirements.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Maintain records of downtime, failures and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, food‑safety and environmental standards.
• Drive improvements in plant uptime, maintenance cost and equipment reliability.

Required profile

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in plant, processing or facility maintenance.
• Experience with industrial refrigeration or cold‑chain equipment preferred.
• Familiarity with blast freezers, cold rooms, conveyors, dryers, ventilation and diesel generators.
• Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, hydraulics and plumbing.
• Proven ability to plan and schedule preventive maintenance.
• Experience managing technicians and contractors.
• Food‑processing, cold‑chain, feed‑milling or poultry industry background is a plus.
