Certified Surgical Tech

About the role

The Certified Surgical Technician supports surgeons and the operating team by preparing the sterile field, handling instruments, and ensuring patient safety throughout surgical procedures. This position requires strict adherence to infection‑control standards and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain medical equipment, instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions for each case.
• Assist with patient skin preparation, positioning, and transport to the procedure room.
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, retract tissue, cut sutures, and perform other duties under physician supervision.
• Conduct safety checks, count sponges/needles, and manage specimen handling.
• Maintain physician preference cards, inventory, and decontamination/sterilization processes.
• Clean and restock the operating room after each case.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• CST certification (or state‑granted equivalent).
• 1‑2 years of operating‑room experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Team‑oriented with ability to work in a high‑stress, fast‑paced setting.
