Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will support day‑to‑day execution of general ledger processes, ensuring accurate accounting, reporting, and discrepancy resolution for the hotel. This full‑time position works on‑site at the Kampala Marriott Hotel and collaborates with various internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement accounting projects, SOP audits, and compliance with fraud and collection procedures.
• Generate timely financial reports, presentations, and analyses to support decision‑making.
• Balance credit‑card ledgers, verify contracts, and perform credit reference checks for direct‑billed groups.
• Maintain accurate profit and loss statements, monitor applicable taxes, and ensure period‑end close activities are completed.
• Provide guidance on accounting and budgeting policies to other units, safeguarding assets and optimizing financial resources.

Required profile

• 4‑year bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field (no experience required) OR a 2‑year degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical ability to evaluate information, solve problems, and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.
