Chief Accountant

About the role

The Uganda Tea Corporation Limited is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead its finance function. Based in Kamwokya, the role will ensure accurate financial reporting, safeguard assets, and support strategic decision‑making for a major tea producer.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including payments, debtors, creditors and payroll.
• Prepare statutory reports and ensure compliance with Ugandan accounting standards and company policies.
• Supervise and mentor the accounts team, enforcing robust internal controls.
• Produce management reports and financial statements for senior leadership.
• Maintain accurate ledgers, reconcile accounts and monitor cash flow.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration.
• Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax and regulatory requirements.
