Coordinator, MHPSS Emergency Response Team

About the role

The primary responsibility of the MHPSS Emergency Response Team (ERT) Coordinator is to provide technical support to mental health and psychosocial programs, ensuring assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of MHPSS activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative guidance on planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of MHPSS activities across sites.
• Conduct routine project needs assessments and program reviews to ensure donor compliance and adherence to International Medical Corps MHPSS Quality Standards.
• Manage the MHPSS program team, ensuring coverage, training, and performance evaluation.
• Represent the MHPSS program in staff, donor, and regional meetings and coordinate with protection and health departments.
• Participate in inter‑agency MHPSS reference groups, cluster meetings and promote IASC‑endorsed guidelines and best practices.
• Lead MHPSS needs assessments, develop program strategies, write proposals and integrate MHPSS into broader IMC programs.

Required profile

• Mental health professional (psychologist, clinical social worker, psychiatrist, or psychiatric nurse) with a relevant graduate degree.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in mental health, including at least 4 years in humanitarian MHPSS work in emergencies or conflict settings.
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of IASC MHPSS guidelines and related assessment toolkits.
• Strong organizational, supervisory and interpersonal skills, with ability to work in multicultural and high‑stress environments.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages (Spanish, French, Arabic) are desirable.
