Data Manager / Programmer (12-month FTC)

About the role

The Data Manager/Programmer will design, develop and maintain clinical data management systems for Epicentre’s research projects in Uganda, Niger and other sites. Reporting to the Data Management, IT and Compliance Coordinator, the role ensures high‑quality data collection in line with ICH‑GCP and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop scripts and applications to automate quality‑control, data cleaning and validation processes.
• Build and maintain data integration pipelines between clinical data platforms, laboratory systems and mobile collection tools.
• Design, configure and support electronic case report forms using REDCap, OpenClinica, ODK or CommCare.
• Create automated monitoring dashboards and KPI reports for investigators.
• Provide technical support for server configuration, backup, disaster recovery and system performance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Health Informatics or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience developing and maintaining clinical or epidemiological data management systems, preferably in resource‑limited settings.

Required skills

• Advanced REDCap configuration and API management.
• Proficiency in R (including Shiny) and Python.
• Version control with Git.
• SQL and relational database design.
• Experience with REST API integration.
• Linux administration and Docker containerisation.
• Familiarity with CDASH and SDTM standards.
• Knowledge of ODK/Kobo, CommCare, OpenClinica, Power BI, GIS and DHIS2.
