Driver for Office Transportation

About the role

The Office Driver will safely transport staff, consultants, and visitors to various locations across Uganda, ensuring professional conduct and vehicle upkeep.

Key responsibilities

• Transport FHI 360 staff, consultants, and visitors to approved locations.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, mileage, fuel records, and trip authorizations.
• Conduct daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and report any defects.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with the Fleet/Logistics team.
• Report accidents, incidents, breakdowns, and security concerns promptly.
• Ensure vehicle documents (insurance, registration, MTP) are current.
• Assist with loading, securing, and delivering supplies and equipment.
• Plan routes, monitor fuel consumption, and enforce road safety regulations.
• Perform errands and special delivery requests as needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or Uganda Advanced Education Certificate.
• At least 5 years of experience driving a project vehicle, preferably donor‑funded.
• Valid Ugandan driving licence with a clean record and defensive driving certificate.
• Ability to operate under challenging road, weather, traffic, or security conditions.
• Physical ability to drive long hours, sit/stand for extended periods, and lift up to 5 lbs.

• Basic use of mobile phone and standard office equipment.
