Driver – Transport

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a reliable driver to transport staff, visitors, documents and goods safely across Kyegegwa and surrounding areas. The role supports daily operations and may assist the emergency team during humanitarian crises.

Key responsibilities

• Drive Save the Children vehicles to collect and deliver people, documents and goods on time and in accordance with organisational policies.
• Perform pre‑trip vehicle checks, including oil, water, brake fluid, fan belt tension and other mechanical items.
• Maintain the vehicle in a clean, mechanically sound condition and ensure all safety equipment (spare wheel, jack, first‑aid kit, fire extinguisher) is present and functional.
• Keep an up‑to‑date mileage log and submit monthly vehicle reports and ProFleet Excel sheets to the supervisor.
• Ensure road licence and vehicle insurance are valid and renewed as required.
• Report any vehicle damage or defects promptly to the Supply Chain Officer or Fleet Coordinator.
• Assist staff and visitors with troubleshooting and provide courteous support during daily activities.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.
• Ability to follow traffic regulations and Save the Children’s safety and child protection policies.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and support emergency operations when needed.
• Good physical fitness to handle vehicle loading and unloading.

Required skills

• Vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Accurate record‑keeping and mileage logging.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting purposes.
