Field Officer – Loan Officer (Microfinance)

About the role

The Field Officer will mobilise clients, conduct loan appraisals, support loan disbursement and monitor repayments across assigned areas. This role combines extensive fieldwork with strong community engagement to build a high‑quality loan portfolio while ensuring compliance with credit policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, sensitize and recruit potential clients; facilitate group formation and training for group lending.
• Promote loan, savings and other financial products and build relationships with community leaders.
• Conduct detailed loan assessments, including business visits, household checks and cash‑flow analysis; verify client information, guarantors and collateral.
• Prepare accurate appraisal reports and ensure clients understand loan terms.
• Support timely and compliant loan disbursement; monitor repayments through field visits and follow‑ups.
• Maintain portfolio quality by ensuring on‑time repayments and actively recovering overdue loans.
• Provide basic financial literacy and business advisory support; handle client inquiries and complaints professionally.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly field and portfolio reports; maintain accurate client documentation.
• Adhere strictly to credit policies, regulatory guidelines and report any suspected fraud or operational risks.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Microfinance, Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in microfinance or a similar sector (preferred).
• Fieldwork experience required; ability to travel within assigned areas; motorcycle riding skill is an advantage.
