General Manager - Agri-Food Business

About the role

Nutrinova is looking for a General Manager in Kampala to lead its business strategy, operations, finance and commercial performance. The role covers production, logistics, quality assurance and supply chain, and reports to the Board.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual business strategy, identify market expansion opportunities and monitor competitors and customer needs
• Lead business development, including key account partnerships, institutional tenders and agro-dealer network expansion
• Oversee production, logistics, quality assurance and supply chain, keeping facilities compliant with UNBS and MAAIF requirements
• Manage the annual budget, review monthly financial reports and P&L, and report performance to the Board
• Drive revenue growth through pricing, product positioning and distribution, and oversee brand development and marketing
• Lead and develop the senior management team, work with the HR Manager on talent and manage succession planning
• Ensure compliance with UNBS, MAAIF, NEMA and other regulations, and represent the company at industry events

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Food Science, Engineering or a related field; MBA or equivalent strongly preferred
• Minimum 8-10 years of progressive management experience, including at least 4 years in a senior leadership role (GM, COO or equivalent)
• Proven track record in agri-business, animal feeds, FMCG or food manufacturing in Uganda or East Africa
• Experience managing P&L and leading cross-functional teams of 50+ employees

• Strong knowledge of Uganda's agricultural regulatory landscape (UNBS, MAAIF)
