Graphic Design Consultant – Training Manuals

About the role

PlayMatters, through the International Rescue Committee, is seeking a Graphic Design and Layout Consultant in Kampala to update seven existing training and support manuals for the Uganda PlayMatters 3.0 project. The work focuses on incorporating content revisions, ensuring visual consistency and preparing final print-ready and digital files in line with PlayMatters 3.0 branding guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Incorporate all content revisions, additions and deletions into the seven manuals, keeping layout, pagination, typography and document formatting consistent.
• Reformat or recreate tables, diagrams, illustrations and text boxes so they stay aligned, legible and user-friendly.
• Update covers and internal design elements to reflect current PlayMatters branding, including the "Second Edition, October 2026" label, and apply approved colours, logos and typography.
• Review all revised manuals for layout inconsistencies, text overflow, broken tables, pagination errors and other issues, then submit drafts for review and incorporate feedback.
• Deliver seven fully updated manuals, editable Microsoft Word versions, high-resolution print-ready PDFs, optimized digital PDFs and editable source files (Adobe InDesign, or an agreed equivalent).

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of graphic design experience.
• Demonstrated experience in publication layout, desktop publishing and producing print-ready training manuals or educational materials.
• Experience with development, education or NGO publications is an advantage.
• Strong English writing skills and attention to detail; confidentiality of organizational information is required.

Required skills

• Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro, or similar applications.
• Ability to integrate photos, illustrations and graphics into print materials.
