IT Officer (Information Systems)

About the role

The IT Officer (Information Systems) supports the development and maintenance of all information systems and large‑scale web‑based platforms for the TVET Council of Uganda. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the role offers hands‑on experience in both backend and frontend development, system integration and secure software practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain application features under senior engineer guidance.
• Build responsive web interfaces using modern frontend frameworks.
• Design and implement APIs and backend services.
• Write unit tests, participate in testing cycles and fix bugs.
• Support deployments through CI/CD pipelines and monitor system performance.
• Assist in troubleshooting and provide ongoing system support.

Required profile

• Diploma with three years software development experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
• Minimum three years of professional software development experience or strong internship/project experience.
• Basic proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Java, C# or JavaScript/Node.js) and one frontend framework (React, Angular or Vue.js).
