Kitchen Staff Substitute

About the role

Opaa! Food Management, Inc. is seeking a flexible Kitchen Staff Substitute to support daily food service operations across its Midwest locations. The role involves performing essential kitchen duties on an as‑needed basis, ensuring food quality, safety, and timely service for students and community members.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and maintain serving lines, ensuring food is held at required temperatures.
• Assist in food preparation according to menu plans and Opaa! recipes, including baking breads, cakes, and cookies.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, cafeteria, and dishwashing areas.
• Manage inventory using FIFO procedures and keep cooler/storage racks clean.
• Record temperatures and complete HACCP food safety logs daily.
• Handle customer transactions during service when required.

Required profile

• Ability to perform essential kitchen functions on an as‑needed basis.
• Commitment to food safety regulations, including HHFKA, CACFP, and HACCP.
• Willingness to follow Opaa!’s safety procedures and core values.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and respond to service demands.

Required skills

• Operation of slicers, mixers, grinders, and related kitchen equipment.
• Food safety compliance (HACCP, temperature monitoring).
• Inventory management using FIFO methodology.
• Basic baking and food preparation techniques.
