About the role
The Uganda Heart Institute is looking for a Laundry Officer in Kampala to supervise and coordinate hospital laundry operations. The goal is to ensure that clean linen is available continuously, hygienically and on time for all hospital departments.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the operational workflow and daily activities of the hospital laundry unit.
- Align laundry workflows with the hospital's sanitary and clinical quality standards.
- Take part in procuring, specifying and requisitioning laundry detergents and consumables.
- Ensure clean hospital linen is always available.
- Train and guide laundry staff on modern hospital laundry procedures and infection prevention standards.
- Maintain accurate records and consumption registers for laundry inventory and consumables.
- Enforce discipline, occupational health and safety standards among laundry staff.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in any humanities, social sciences or administration discipline.
- Certificate in laundry operations, institutional housekeeping or infection prevention and control practices.
- Experience in a healthcare or hospital setting is an added advantage.
