Make Ready Team Member - Hotel Housekeeping

About the role

A full-time, non-management Make Ready Team position at a Marriott property in Kampala, Uganda. The team keeps guest rooms, meeting rooms and public spaces ready for guests through scheduled preventative maintenance and cleaning.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms and public spaces, including flipping mattresses, vacuuming behind and under furniture, deep cleaning carpets, touch-up painting, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, checking that all appliances are present and working, cleaning and replacing light fixtures, and inspecting grout and caulking.
• Maintain, repair and clean rooms and spaces in line with property procedures (e.g. GCPM, CARE, Make Ready Team, Perfect Room Team).
• Perform preventative maintenance on hotel equipment and minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs and patching wall holes.
• Report serious maintenance problems, unusual findings or safety hazards immediately to the manager or supervisor.
• Follow safety and security policies, report accidents and injuries, complete safety training and certifications, and keep a clean, professional appearance.
• Welcome guests, anticipate their service needs, and build positive working relationships within the team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• Less than 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, bend, twist, pull and stoop, and lift objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
