About the role
The Local Organiser role is at the heart of UNISON’s growth, working directly in workplaces to engage with members, build relationships and inspire collective action. This entry‑level position offers comprehensive training and ongoing support.
Key responsibilities
- Engage daily with workers in various workplaces across the Northern region.
- Build and maintain relationships with members and potential members.
- Inspire and support collective action aligned with UNISON’s strategic goals.
- Participate in projects that contribute to the national Organising to Win strategy.
- Travel within the region and occasionally to London for training or meetings.
Required profile
- Committed and self‑motivated individuals passionate about the trade union movement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an understanding of trade union principles.
- Flexibility to travel within the region and attend occasional sessions in London.
- Willingness to learn and develop organising skills through training.
