Manager, Data Systems & IT

About the role

The Manager, Data Systems & IT will own Spark Microgrants' data ecosystem, designing collection platforms, databases and dashboards to enable data‑driven decisions while safeguarding information against cyber threats.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure technical systems provide a single “version of the truth” and maintain robust database structures.
• Develop and manage data flows, integrations and visualisation dashboards across multiple countries.
• Lead the product team, set clear responsibilities, and support their growth.
• Oversee IT strategy, infrastructure, security, vendor management and business continuity.
• Supervise product and IT officers in Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi and Ghana, ensuring clear role separation.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field.
• Minimum 7 years experience in database management (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and data integration (ETL).
• Experience supporting multi‑country IT teams and working across cultures.
