MEAL Assistant – Monitoring & Evaluation Support

About the role

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant will support the Danish Refugee Council’s Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) in Bidibidi. The role involves ensuring that project activities are monitored, evaluated and documented to improve the resilience of refugees and host‑community members.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and implement the annual project monitoring plan and performance indicators.
• Conduct routine field monitoring, produce monthly monitoring reports and share findings with partners.
• Lead baseline, mid‑term and end‑line evaluations for new projects.
• Represent DRC in coordination meetings, performance monitoring and assessments with partners.
• Manage data quality, oversee data collection (electronic/mobile), and present reports to stakeholders.
• Organise learning events and document success stories, best practices and lessons learned.
• Track Resilience Design Indicators and contribute to knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of MEAL experience with an international humanitarian organization or NGO.
• Strong analytical, presentation and report‑writing abilities.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is desirable.
• Demonstrated alignment with DRC core competencies: excellence, collaboration, leadership, communication and integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Experience with statistical software such as SPSS or STATA.
• Competence in electronic or mobile data collection tools.
• Ability to manage quantitative and qualitative data.
