MEAL Officer – Data Analytics & Insights (Maternity Cover)

About the role

War Child Canada is seeking a short‑term MEAL Officer to lead data‑analytics and insight activities for two programmes in West Nile, Uganda. The role will be based in Kampala for one month and then in the Yumbe field office for three months, providing on‑the‑ground monitoring, evaluation and learning support while integrating advanced analytics into programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Project Monitoring Framework (PMF) with monthly indicator data for the Geared for Success and School Feeding Pilot projects.
• Collect, clean and analyse programme data, turning descriptive reports into diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights.
• Apply machine‑learning and natural‑language‑processing techniques to improve participant tracking via digital smart‑card systems.
• Produce regular dashboards and analytical briefs for the Country MEAL Manager, Head of Programs and implementing partners.
• Support field teams with data‑driven decision‑making and ensure compliance with accountability standards.
• Travel frequently to field sites in West Nile to verify data quality and provide capacity‑building.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated professional with a solid grounding in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL).
• Experience working in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in Uganda.
• Ability to work independently in remote field environments and manage multiple priorities.
