Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Assistant (Uganda)

About the role

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Assistant will support the implementation of robust monitoring systems for the Lake Victoria Watershed Agroforestry Carbon Project. Based in Buganda, the role works closely with field teams and the Uganda MEL team to ensure accurate, timely, and verifiable data on project performance.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of annual and quarterly MEL workplans aligned with program priorities.
• Coordinate logistics for field data collection, including scheduling, sampling guidance, and device readiness.
• Conduct routine field monitoring using mobile data collection tools (e.g., TaroWorks) to gather quantitative and qualitative data from farmers and field staff.
• Verify implementation quality and adherence to program standards during field visits.
• Interview farmers and participants to document case studies, learning outcomes, and communication materials.
• Assist with specialized field measurements and data collection activities as required.

Required profile

• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities within agricultural or environmental projects.
• Ability to coordinate field data collection logistics and work closely with diverse field teams.
• Strong attention to data quality, validation, and reporting.
• Willingness to travel within the Lake Victoria Watershed region.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mobile data collection platforms, specifically TaroWorks.
• Basic data quality assurance and validation techniques.
