Partnerships and Grants Manager

About the role

The Partnerships and Grants Manager will lead the grants and partnership portfolio for a Sudan crisis localisation fund, based in Kamwokya, Uganda. The role provides senior leadership, ensures compliance with donor and fund standards, and guides a team of Partnerships and Grants Specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage grant application processes, including guidelines, templates and evaluation criteria.
• Lead due‑diligence and vetting of partner organisations to ensure compliance with donor and fund requirements.
• Prepare and administer grant agreements and amendments in coordination with the Fund Management Unit at headquarters.
• Design and oversee capacity‑building programmes for partners on grants management, compliance and reporting.
• Supervise and mentor Partnerships & Grants Officer(s), providing clear direction and performance oversight.
• Oversee the implementation and roll‑out of the Fund’s grant management system, ensuring it meets partner needs.
• Coordinate with the Operations Manager to streamline fund disbursements, financial tracking and risk management.
• Monitor grant implementation, verify timely submission of financial and narrative reports, and maintain the risk register.
• Track disbursements against budgets, flag variances and escalate risks to the Fund Director.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing grants and partnerships within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong knowledge of donor compliance, grant lifecycle management and risk mitigation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a small team of specialists.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with experience in financial tracking.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with headquarters and local partners.
