About the role
The Patient Service Representative provides essential front‑office support in a medical setting, ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate financial processing. You will interact directly with patients, families, and insurance providers to verify coverage, collect payments, and maintain precise records.
Key responsibilities
- Capture charges and post over‑the‑counter payments.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre‑authorizations or certifications.
- Counsel patients and families on insurance and payment matters before surgery.
- Enter accurate demographic and insurance data into the billing system.
- Register patients, collect co‑pays, deductibles, and other out‑of‑pocket amounts at the time of service.
- Post approved adjustments to patient accounts.
- Balance receipts, reconcile daily work batches, and prepare audit trails.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED (college degree is a plus).
- Minimum two years of front‑office experience in a medical environment.
Required skills
- Scheduling experience.
- Insurance verification expertise.
- Patient registration knowledge.
