Personal Banker

About the role

The Personal Banker will deliver exceptional retail banking performance at Absa Bank Uganda’s Prestige Branch. You will combine customer service excellence with proactive sales to meet branch targets and support customers in opening accounts, accessing loans and managing banking products.

Key responsibilities

• Handle customer queries and complaints related to account opening, loans and card applications, ensuring timely resolution and escalation when needed.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal service teams (Operations, KYC Helpdesk) to accelerate query turnaround.
• Guide customers to appropriate service channels (cashiers, ATMs, drop boxes) and notify them when account items are ready for collection.
• Promote new loan approvals and encourage draw‑downs, following up with customers to ensure uptake.
• Maintain branch merchandising materials and monitor supply levels.
• Drive sales of retail banking products by explaining offerings, meeting campaign targets and managing personal sales quotas.
• Collaborate with branch staff and Customer Advisors to refer eligible customers for prestige products and services.
• Complete account opening documentation with customers and submit for manager approval.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑focused attitude with the ability to resolve issues quickly.
• Proven sales orientation and ability to meet or exceed product‑specific targets.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with both customers and internal teams.
• Organised, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple tasks in a busy branch environment.
