Plastic Surgeon – Emergency Response Team

About the role

We are seeking a board‑certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon to join an Emergency Response Team delivering life‑saving surgical care in conflict‑affected, disaster‑affected, or low‑resource settings. The role focuses on trauma, burns, infection, and complex soft‑tissue reconstruction while building local capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform emergency and elective reconstructive procedures, including trauma reconstruction, burn excision and coverage, infection control, and complex wound management.
• Apply damage‑control and staged reconstruction principles for unstable patients with limited resources.
• Manage peri‑operative and post‑operative care with emphasis on infection prevention and complication mitigation.
• Participate in triage and prioritization during mass‑casualty or surge events.
• Train, mentor, and supervise local surgeons, residents, nurses, and allied staff; develop locally appropriate protocols and guidelines.
• Collaborate with anesthesia, nursing, rehabilitation, logistics, and leadership teams; adapt surgical plans to available infrastructure and supplies.
• Maintain accurate, ethical clinical documentation and uphold humanitarian principles.

Required profile

• Board‑certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon.
• Proven experience in trauma, burns, infection, and soft‑tissue reconstruction in resource‑limited environments.
• Strong surgical judgment and ability to teach across cultures and training levels.
• High adaptability, resilience, and collaborative mindset.
