Primary Trained Teacher – Literacy 1 & 2

About the role

As a Primary Trained Teacher for Literacy 1 & 2 at AsOne Ministries, you will deliver both local‑language and English literacy instruction to lower primary learners (P1‑P3). The role combines classroom teaching, assessment, and remedial support within a Christ‑centered, non‑profit environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver lesson plans and schemes of work for Literacy 1 (local language) and Literacy 2 (English) in line with the national thematic curriculum.
• Teach engaging, inclusive lessons that build phonemic awareness, letter‑sound knowledge, decoding skills and early reading fluency.
• Foster oral language, vocabulary, listening and speaking abilities as foundations for literacy acquisition.
• Guide learners in early writing skills, including handwriting, spelling and simple sentence construction.
• Provide remedial support for learners who struggle with foundational literacy.
• Assess and evaluate learner progress using formative and summative tools, including oral reading assessments.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and maintain professional conduct.

Required profile

• Entry‑level primary teaching qualification.
• Minimum two years of experience teaching lower‑primary literacy (as indicated by 24 months required experience).
• Commitment to a Christ‑centered, holistic approach to education.
• Willingness to provide remedial support and conduct regular learner assessments.

Required skills

• Knowledge of phonics‑based instruction methods.
• Ability to conduct guided reading and oral reading assessments.
