Principal – Nursing & Midwifery School

About the role

The Principal will lead Alice Anume Memorial School of Nursing & Midwifery, providing strategic, academic and administrative direction to ensure high-quality competency-based training, regulatory compliance and institutional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the school’s strategic plan, aligning academic programmes with competency-based training standards.
• Oversee curriculum design, delivery and quality assurance for nursing and midwifery programmes.
• Ensure compliance with national regulatory bodies and maintain accreditation standards.
• Lead research initiatives, promote innovation and foster partnerships with health sector stakeholders.
• Manage financial resources, budgeting and resource allocation to support sustainable operations.
• Represent the institution to external partners, donors and community organisations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or midwifery with a postgraduate diploma in medical education, or a Bachelor’s in medical education.
• Master’s degree in nursing, health education, public health, health services management or a related field.
• Registered and holding a valid practising licence.
• Minimum ten years of experience in nursing or health professional education, including at least three years in a senior leadership or management role.
• Demonstrated strategic and transformational leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Strong institutional planning and management capabilities.
• In-depth knowledge of TVET and competency-based training.
• Proficiency in ICT and digital information management systems.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.
