Program Coordinator

About the role

The Program Coordinator will lead the implementation of AVSI‑funded projects in Uganda, ensuring that activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with donor and organisational standards. This role bridges programme planning, execution, monitoring, and communication, fostering collaboration across departments and with external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and take final responsibility for all project activities, ensuring compliance with approved proposals, budgets, and timelines.
• Coordinate business development efforts, identify new funding opportunities, and support proposal preparation.
• Oversee the preparation, verification, and submission of project reports and strategic documents to AVSI, donors, and local authorities.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and synergy between AVSI programmes, regional staff, and headquarters.
• Ensure quality and sustainability of results through MEAL processes, promoting continuous improvement and lessons learned.
• Support communication activities by collaborating with the local Communication Officer and ensuring project visibility.
• Maintain compliance with AVSI and donor operational procedures, including financial planning and procurement.

Required profile

• University degree in International Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing donor‑funded projects, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
• Strong understanding of project design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
• Excellent coordination and supervisory skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams.
• Fluent English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
