About the role
Action Against Hunger is seeking a dedicated Project Accountant to manage financial operations for its humanitarian projects in Uganda. The role ensures accurate budgeting, reporting, and compliance with donor requirements while supporting field teams.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets, tracking expenses against allocated funds.
- Produce and analyse project financial statements and reports.
- Ensure strict adherence to donor guidelines, contract terms, and accounting standards.
- Manage invoicing, billing cycles, accounts receivable, and vendor payments.
- Collaborate with project teams to assess financial impacts of scope changes and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
Required profile
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or related field.
- CPA or ACCA qualification, completed or at an advanced level.
- Minimum 5 years of project finance management experience, preferably with donor‑funded programmes (World Bank, UN, USAID, etc.).
- Experience with field offices or refugee‑response operations is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Uganda tax requirements, including withholding tax and VAT.
