About the role
The AFGHS-FHI 360 Uganda Project Director provides overall leadership, management and strategic direction for the America First Global Health Strategy project in Uganda. The role oversees implementation of HIV and Global Health Security portfolios, ensuring project goals are met on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities
- Direct overall project vision, design, planning and implementation, ensuring contractual targets and milestones are achieved.
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with government entities, implementing partners, and donors.
- Lead the country project team, overseeing performance management, professional development and accountability.
- Coordinate with FHI 360 headquarters on annual work plans, budgets and milestone reporting.
- Serve as primary liaison with the U.S. Department of State staff and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
Required profile
- Executive‑level experience (minimum 12 years) in project management within health or development sectors.
- Proven ability to work with ministries, senior government officials, international partners and donors.
- Strong consultative, negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience managing large, multi‑partner budgets and monitoring expenditures.
- Ability to motivate teams, build local relationships and ensure a safe, equitable work environment.
