Project Manager – Education Project (National)

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of a UNICEF‑funded education project in the Karamoja sub‑region of Uganda. Based in the Moroto office, the role works closely with the Programme Manager and ensures that project outputs meet donor requirements, organisational strategies and national policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute detailed work plans for education activities, ensuring timely and quality delivery of outputs.
• Monitor project progress against targets, produce regular reports and adjust implementation strategies as needed.
• Coordinate situation and needs assessments to identify education interventions aligned with ZOA’s strategic objectives.
• Lead stakeholder engagement across the five districts of operation, fostering collaboration with partners and local authorities.
• Support resource mobilisation efforts to expand ZOA’s footprint in Karamoja.
• Ensure compliance with donor regulations, organisational policies and national education standards.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree or equivalent experience in project management, education, humanitarian assistance or a related field.
• Minimum of one year of experience managing development or education projects in a humanitarian context.
• Demonstrated ability to work in remote, multi‑district environments and to coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with attention to detail.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
