Project Manager – Fortification & School Feeding

About the role

GAIN is hiring a Project Manager to lead the Grain to Gains Wholegrain Project and embed fortified whole grains into Uganda’s National School Feeding Programme. Based in Kampala, the role is a two‑year fixed‑term position focused on strengthening millers, improving access to affordable fortification systems, and linking farmers with institutional buyers.

Key responsibilities

• Profile and select millers using capacity, market performance, and gender/youth inclusion criteria.
• Build structured procurement linkages between millers and institutional buyers, and develop contract‑farming and warehouse‑receipt systems.
• Provide technical assistance, mentorship, and access to affordable fortification premix while ensuring compliance with UNBS standards.
• Lead policy review and advocacy for integrating fortified whole grains into national standards and regulations.
• Oversee research and evidence generation on market demand, pricing, supply‑chain efficiency, and the added value of fortification.

Required profile

• Strong technical expertise in food processing, fortification, and the maize value chain.
• Proven experience managing donor‑funded programmes, including budgeting, risk management, procurement, and compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to engage the private sector, facilitate market linkages, and conduct policy advocacy.
