Project Officer – Sustainable Land Management (SLM)

About the role

The Project Officer – Sustainable Land Management (SLM) will join the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP) team to lead the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all SLM activities. The role supports smallholder farmers and refugee‑host communities by promoting climate‑smart land practices that improve productivity, resilience and environmental health.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and monitor SLM interventions across target districts, ensuring alignment with UCSATP objectives.
• Deliver training, demonstrations and community‑based activities on soil and water conservation, agroforestry, erosion control and integrated soil fertility management.
• Strengthen farmer groups, facilitate access to land and promote block‑farming models that enhance food security and incomes.
• Collect, analyse and report data on SLM outcomes, contributing to project performance reviews and donor reporting.
• Collaborate with local NGOs, government agencies and the Catholic Church to ensure sustainable adoption of climate‑smart practices.

Required profile

• Strong technical expertise in sustainable land management and climate‑smart agriculture.
• Ability to work full‑time on‑site in Kyangwali, Uganda and travel to project sites as needed.
• Experience in facilitating community‑based training and farmer group development.
