Protection Information Management Officer

About the role
The Protection Information Management Officer will strengthen the quality, management and use of protection data across DRC Uganda’s programmes, including gender‑based violence, child protection, community‑based protection and legal aid. Reporting to the Country Protection Manager and technically to the MEAL Manager, the officer will ensure secure collection, analysis and dissemination of protection information in line with DRC’s PIM principles.
Key responsibilities
- Adapt and develop standardized protection information management systems, such as case management and monitoring tools.
- Maintain secure databases for GBV, child protection, legal aid, community‑based protection, safe spaces and psychosocial support activities.
- Support digitalisation and harmonisation of protection tools across field locations, ensuring proper version control, backup and access management.
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to align protection databases with organisational reporting requirements.
- Develop and apply protocols for data cleaning, validation and quality assurance, conducting routine data quality assessments.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive case data and monitor compliance with data‑protection policies.
- Integrate protection information systems with organisational platforms such as Kobo and PowerBi while maintaining data security.
- Oversee the full data lifecycle, from collection to secure disposal, in accordance with DRC policies.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in protection information management, case management or monitoring within humanitarian contexts.
- Strong understanding of data protection principles and confidentiality requirements, especially for GBV and child protection data.
- Ability to work collaboratively with programme, MEAL and technical teams.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Kobo Toolbox for data collection.
- Experience using PowerBi for data visualisation and reporting.
- Database management and data quality assurance techniques.
