Registered Nurse - PreOp/PACU (PRN)

About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide peri‑operative care for patients undergoing same‑day surgery, working in both the Pre‑Operative (PreOp) and Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) areas on an as‑needed (PRN) basis. The role involves direct patient care, medication administration, and coordination with physicians and ancillary services.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering nursing care to same‑day surgery patients, following physician orders and center policies.
• Monitor and document patient symptoms, reactions, and changes in condition post‑operatively.
• Administer prescribed medications, including pain and anti‑nausea treatments, ensuring proper documentation and privacy.
• Discharge patients according to facility guidelines and provide psychological support to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate charge sheets for supplies and medications used.
• Participate in emergency situations, making rapid, sound decisions.
• Support orientation and training of new staff members.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a current Registered Nurse license.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to assess pain and nausea needs and administer medication accordingly.
• Commitment to continuing education and meeting CEU requirements for licensure renewal.
