Senior Accountant

About the role

St. Marys Hospital Lacor is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead its finance function. Based on‑site in Gulu, this full‑time position will oversee daily financial operations, ensure compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow monitoring and financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements and monitor expenditures.
• Maintain internal controls, support internal and external audits, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Supervise finance staff, mentor team members and coordinate with department heads on budget planning and cost optimisation.
• Contribute to strategic financial planning, advise leadership on risks and opportunities, and uphold robust financial systems and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; CPA or ACCA preferred.
• Proven experience in a finance management role, ideally within a hospital, healthcare facility or non‑profit organisation.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clinical, administrative and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work on‑site in Gulu, manage multiple priorities and maintain ethical standards and confidentiality.
