Senior Cardiac Public Health Officer

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is hiring a Senior Cardiac Public Health Officer in Kampala to implement cardiac public health programs while adhering to public health standards and national guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement cardiac health promotion and disease prevention programs.
• Facilitate training of healthcare workers and community health extension workers on cardiovascular health.
• Conduct community needs assessments to identify cardiovascular disease risk factors.
• Collect and analyze public health data to support evidence-based planning and decision-making.
• Collaborate with community leaders and civil society to raise awareness and improve access to cardiac screening and care.
• Train surveillance teams on tracking epidemic and non-communicable diseases and implement disease surveillance systems for cardiovascular risks.
• Support the development of public education and communication materials for cardiac health campaigns.
• Carry out field visits to monitor and evaluate public health interventions.
• Assist in preparing quarterly and annual reports on program performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Public Health, Nursing Science or a related field from a recognized university.
• Master's degree in Public Health or a related field is an added advantage.
• At least three years of work experience as a Cardiac Public Health Officer or in public health programming.
